An ex banker, amateur economist, short story author, poet and playwright. He has over 20 years’ cognate experience in Investment, Commercial, Corporate, and SME Banking as well as Development and Affordable Housing Finance. His experience spans the international and local banking industry having held various strategic positions such as; Senior Investment Officer in the Africa Department of the Netherlands Development Finance Company (FMO); Group Head of Access Bank Plc’s Global Financial Markets Group (in charge of Debt and Equity Capital markets), Managing Director/CEO of Access Bank Zambia, Deputy Managing Director of Access Bank Rwanda, and Group Head in charge of Access Bank Plc’s Business Banking Division across the South-South of Nigeria.
He is currently the Managing Director/CEO of Lyceum Alliance Limited, an FMO Nominee Non-Executive Director on the board of Business Partners International East Africa LLC (“BPI East Africa”, with subsidiaries in Uganda, Rwanda, Kenya and expanding into Zambia, Namibia and Malawi) and an Independent Director on the board of Tigray Coffee Company Limited.
Jekwu has advised the Federal Housing Authority on the National Affordable Housing Finance Scheme based on which he was made a member of the Presidential Committee on Affordable Housing on August 21, 2007.
He was also a Member of the successor Presidential Implementation Committee on Affordable Housing.
He was appointed a Resource Person on Title and Mortgage Insurance to the Federal Ministry of Environment, Housing and Urban Development.
He was also a member of the 2019 Imo State Transition Technical Committee where he played a key role in the Finance and Funding Sub-Committee.
He is a member of the Financial Market and Financial Inclusion Policy Commission of the Nigerian Economic Summit Group (NESG).
He is an Honorary Senior Member of the Chartered Institute of Bankers Nigeria (HCIB), an Associate of the Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria (ACIB), and a Member Chartered Institute of Bankers Scotland (MCIBS).
He holds a B.A in English from the University of Lagos, an MBA in Finance from the University of Leicester, a Chartered Banker MBA from Bangor University, and a DBA in Banking and Finance from Binary University College Malaysia.
Jekwu’s numerous articles on finance and economic policy have been published by mainstream and online media.
He is a Co-Licensee of TEDxOguiRoad, and a member Board of Trustees of Jalada Africa Trust, a Pan-African Collective set up to promote Writers and Artists of African origin.
